What are the classic features of Art Deco Jewellery?
Art Deco jewellery (1920 and 1935), was in stark contrast to it’s predecessor, Art Nouveau. Gone were the curved lines and features like floral vines, scrolls and loops and in came bold, geometric patterns; straight lines, square, triangles, pyramids and arcs borrowed heavily from architecture. Art Deco jewellery was typically crafted in either white gold, platinum and sometimes palladium.
Information about the gems found in this ring:
Diamonds are the birthstone of April and the anniversary gemstone for the 10th and 60th years of marriage. They are composed of a single element this makes them the purest of all gemstones. They were first discovered in India in 500 BC and the name diamond comes from the Greek word Adamas which means unconquerable – this suggests the eternity of love.
As such, diamonds and diamond jewellery have been the traditional symbol of love and are often used for engagement or eternity rings. A diamond is the hardest substance currently known to us and is made of a crystallized carbon that has unique powers of light reflection.
