Pearl, along with alexandrite is the birthstone for June. They come in a range of colours and sizes, in fact the colours of pearls are caused by the inside colour of the shell it is formed in.. They are formed by living organisms within the soft tissue layer of molluscs – pearls are the only gemstone to come from a living creature!
