Description
A wonderful example of an antique Portuguese rose cut diamond ring. Styled in the form of a flower and accentuated with rose-cut diamonds it hails from Porto, Portugal circa 1900.
The details throughout this ring are superb, look at those ring shoulders for an example the craftsmanship. You can see from the photos it is in great condition for its age, with only minor signs of wear. Please note, the diamonds do have some inclusions, this is entirely typical for antique rings as grading was no where near as advanced or indeed prevalent at the time this ring was produced.
The hallmark is a lion’s head in a octagonal frame with the Roman number II, this hallmark was used in Porto in Portugal between the years 1886 and 1938 for alloys of 19.2 ct/K gold (sometimes also shown as 800/1000).

Information about the gems found in this ring:
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend and also the birthstone for the month of April. The name diamond comes from the ancient Greek meaning ‘unconquerable’. Diamonds are the hardest natural substance on earth, made up of nearly 100% carbon and the only thing that will scratch one is another diamond!
