Wonderful vintage peridot and amethyst ring, with a sprinkling of diamonds in a bypass setting and modelled in 9ct gold. The peridot and the amethyst are in fantastic condition, crisp and clear. Assayed in Birmingham.

Information about the gems used in this ring:
Peridot is one of the gemstones for August, along with spinel and sardonyx. It is a variety of the mineral olivine, with a vivid green colouring and is one of the few gemstones which only comes in one colour. Its colour is caused by iron ions and can vary from a yellow-green to a brownish-green depending on the amount of iron present. Peridot was known as ‘the sun gem’ by ancient Egyptians. It is also known for being formed under extreme conditions, as it can be found in the hardened lava that carried it from deep within Earth’s mantle as well as in meteorites that travelled from outer space, cool!
